| What is developing the BEST? Click below for a brief introduction >> Having qualified as an accountant, I moved into Learning and Development over 20 years ago – and stayed. As well as delivering learning and development services, I have extensive experience as a department manager, including managing staff, working with associates and secondees, managing external consultant relationships and the related budgets. I have also worked on a number of UK-wide projects within L&D, across wider HR services and the business as a whole. Through my company, Sue Cohen Ltd, I offer three key services: - Interim management services to help you manage business projects, around new processes and systems, people development or IT projects
- LinkedIn and networking for professionals – using this tool as an extension of networking and building relationships, combining the best of your people skills with online networking – you might like to take a look at my ebook (see the attached weblink “Useful Guides”)
- Learning and development projects covering design, development and delivery of a range of management and team skills, delivered by me and trusted associates.
Described by colleagues and clients as “very well organised”, “commercial and business focused”, “excellent at listening and helping to solve problems” and “ensuring projects are delivered on time”, I use my personal management experience, alongside my training expertise, to help business leaders develop the solutions which are appropriate to them. Developing the BEST: - Business focused, - Effective and Efficient, - Skilled and playing to their Strengths, - Targeted. What can you do? For any learning and development activity you have or are planning, consider what the business benefit is that you want from it and how you will measure it; what outcomes you want from each activity; what you need to do in the short-term to ensure you continue to your medium and long-term strategy. Approach to working with you When working with businesses to develop their staff, I will spend time understanding the business and its aims, in order to understand what you need from the people within it; we can then look at ways to identify unexploited strengths as well as areas of development, using a variety of solutions which could include: - Management and skills development workshops
- Leadership and team building workshops
- 1 to 1 coaching
- Use of Psychometric tools to help individuals identify their own strengths as well as help teams understand how they can work together more effectively
- Independent facilitator for team meeting/s
No matter what type of organisation, or its size, individuals work on their own and with others. There may be formal team structures and many informal work-based conversations. Many development activities are targeted at developing new skills or enhancing those seen as less than optimum for a current, or future role. However, for people to be effective, they need to be able to make the most of their strengths and key skills and bring these to bear quickly, particularly when the work environment is difficult and changing. Learning and development activities need to address aspects at both ends of the spectrum - helping high performers excel (and help others), as well as helping to "fill the gaps".
