A to Z of people skills – Kindness
K could be Knowledge or Knowhow – relevant knowledge and technical experience is critical in any business – or maybe Kindle as a current topic and I’ve gone for kindness. What’s that got to do with busines skills.
It’s an interesting thought, originally posed in an assertiveness video along the lines of “there isn’t enough kindness in business”. What does that mean to you? To me, being kind in business means at least:
- telling them how well they’re doing
- telling them what needs to change – before it gets to a point where it is detrimental to them, their career and/or the business
- being honest about what you don’t do – saying No when appropriate
It’s not about giving in, being nice for the sake of it or paying lip service to “corporate responsibility”.
