Management skills training

Management training covers a range of different skill areas involved in managing staff as individuals and as part of a team. Programmes are split into a number of modules, covering the following key areas:

  • Feedback, listening and communication with the team
  • Delegation and supervision
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Annual appraisals and ongoing reviews

The majority of these programmes are run inhouse, with selected modules run as open courses, around specific industries and appropriate case studies. Sue's programmes are run in Hertfordshire, Central London and Greater London and can be arranged at other venues around the country.

Overview of workshops

The workshops are each designed around case studies and practical exercises. Over the course of the modules, supervisors and managers will develop their skills to manage day-to-day workloads, ongoing performance management and long-term appraisal and review.

These workshops will help those who supervise and manage staff build their people management skills in a practical and pragmatic manner, linking business objectives with staff development.

Previous delegates on similar events have commented:

"I have suffered with a number of poor performing staff. I now feel more prepared to deal with issues as they arise, so the need for drastic action should reduce."

"I've shied away from coaching others, unless it was part of a very specific technical role. I feel more able to do this with non-technical skills."

"My staff always seemed to find annual appraisals a trial. With a simplified system and better trained managers, a number remarked that they felt more motivated, as well as understood their objectives and the business goals, far better than they had done before."
